The Gay Orientalist

It seems a lot of types who have a fondness for handsome gay Asian boys also like mother of pearl furniture. I wonder where that correlation comes from. Is a fondness for mother of pearl furniture an inherited trait? Just like being gay? Personally I think the stuff looks tacky. Maybe I am not gay.
