Homo Art

japanese SM print
Most gay Asian “art” sucks, as you know. So I’m not sure if you would want to put this on the wall of your office, but it might be stimulating on the black walls of your playroom. This Japanese image come from the Homo Erotik Museum. Lots of the stuff there is junk, but there as some notable painting and prints that I’ll show over the coming days.

Antique Japanese Kimono

kimono
If you or your gay Asian lover want to live out your geisha fantasy, than this fantastic kimono from the Showa period maybe just the thing to prance around the house or the neighborhood. I love the intense colors and the design. It’s available here for 300000 yen.

Uzbekistan Ikat

uzbekistan ikat

The irregular weave look interesting. According to this website ”the Uzbek ikats that I have analysed are warp ikats. When weaving, the yarns previously dyed can be slightly shifted and this inaccuracy results in a blurry outline in the pattern between the different colors which is the unique quality of ikat cloths”. Now you know. I’m not sure if this kind of stuff is of any use in the gay Asian lifestyle and think it is best left with the nomads it came from.

Gay Asian Art

symon bali

Frankly, most of the gay Asian art that I have ever seen in places such as Dick’s Cafe belongs at a high school exhibit for talented 12 year olds with a knack for gay porn. Here’s an example of something by a guy named Symon. Is this something you want to have hanging on your walls? Maybe it goes well with your mother of pearl furniture? If you want to buy this, it’s available here.

Chaste

boy with shawl

This Wilhelm von Gloeden picture of a boy with a shawl is rather chaste, but it does have that implied eroticism that the photographer is known for. If only he had ever gone to Thailand to do some shooting, that would have made us gay Asian admirers so happy.

Von Gloeden

von gloeden 1

Von Gloeden photographed lots of young men in Sicily around 1900, and today I’ll start a series featuring some of his work. Von Gloeden’s imagery is more erotic than pornographic. There are no hardons or explicit sex, but there is a longing there. Something that you may recognize if you often fall in love with the gay Asian boys of Thailand. Back then it was Sicily and Marrakech, these days it is Bangkok and Pattaya. So today is not an actual Von Gloeden, but a photo inspired by the good man himself, made by James Klekowski

Art No Play

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I wanted to review Art At Play, a gay art gallery in the center of gay Asian Bangkok in Silom Soi 4. But….the site will not let me save a picture that I can show you here as an example. So….they will not get a review or a link. Duh.

Martial Arts

bruce lee

Not strictly figurative arts this time, but never mind. Martial arts are still arts. Bruce Lee still looks sexy after all these years. And though this calendar maybe a bit late, you can still get it here. Maybe a gift idea for your best friend, a gay Asian admirer over in the States or Europe, where he is deprived of his daily dosis of Asian male beauty.

Kritsana Chaikitwattana

Kritsana Chaikitwattana

This guy exhibits at ThaiVibu. A lot of his paintings are titled ”Venus”, I suspect because he’s fascinated by women. Still, this colorful work has no women and is called Stop (Truth and Illusion)”. The technique is mainly oil on board. It would probably do nice in a corporate environment but at US$ 4600 I would rather have something more sexy, gay and Asian from the Asia Boy Collection for the walls at home.

Josef Polleross

guardian josef polleross

This artist exhibits in La Lanta, a Bangkok art gallery that, rare for Bangkok, has some decent stuff to sell. I liked this digital dye print on canvas, called Guardian. I must admit I am shamelessly attracted to anything that looks like nude Asian male skin. So what could I do but select this piece as my recomendation for the gay Asian art collector. It will be a nice conversation piece for your weekend get togethers.
