I found this image on 35togo a blog about snaphots of life in Taiwan and South East Asia. Nothing gay, but nice anyway. It is street art in Bangkok so you can’t hang it on your wall.

Fashion as a popular way of epxressing yourself can be art as good as any as you find at Christies. So the coming month or so I want to focus on fashion. Especially the trends in Japan that are devoutly followed by the gay Asian boys of Thailand. So today we start with the Hiraita Bracelet from TokyoMade.

Jean Edelstein is an artist who has done some nice work on Balinese dancers. Just look at this gorgeous work that captures the essence of a Balinese dance. It would enhance any gay Asian loftdweller’s surroundings. Never mind the new age blurb on her website.

Search for art galleries in Bangkok on Google, and all you find is cheesy stuff made on the cheap for package tourists. Do the same for Jakarta, and you come up with some classy art that you’d be proud to display in your gay Asian Bangkok loft. So here goes. This here comes from the Gaya Art Space and is by Dadang Christianto. It is acrylic on linen and measures 138 by 112 cm. Just right.

If you want to get some art on the cheap you can buy paintings from Burmese artists. They all have a limited number of themes, but you can fill a wall for relatively little money. It’s not exactly gay Asian art, but it’s cheap. Like this one example by Aung Kyaw Tun from Thaivibu Gallery. It depics a Nat spirit. Actually at US$ 1900 it is rather pricy for such mediocre work. You can probably get it at the market in Rangoon for a fraction of the price.

Is this a gay Asian painting? This nice Chinese painting is a recent acquisitions of the University of Colorado in Boulder. They don’t quite know what it is and ask for more information. What I see is a Chinese uncle luring two cute boys to his sex nest for a few hours of naughty naughty. But that is just my perverted mind.

Unfortunately this painting is not available to decorate your gay Asian apartment. However you can go and view it anytime at the New York Metropolitan Museum where it is in the collection of Nepalese art. This depicts the violent Buddhist guardian god Chandamaharoshana who destroys evil with anger. To me that seems a contradiction, so how that exactly works shall remain a mystery I’m afraid.

The Tibet Rug Company offers gorgeous handwoven rugs for the discerning gay Asian art collector who also wants something distinctive on his floors. This example is available in a variety of sizes, and there are many other gorgeous designs as well. Recommended.
